Tammy Skinner, business teacher and department head at Palm Beach Gardens Community High School, has been named chair of the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Board of Directors.
As an active FBLA adviser for more than 25 years, including eight years as a district director, Ms. Skinner has been instrumental in building Florida FBLA into one of the organization’s strongest states. The Palm Beach Central High School chapter, which she established in 2003, grew to become the largest chapter in the state in 2008-09. In addition, she was adviser to the 2009-10 FBLA National Student President Mauricio Escobar, and was named Florida Chapter Adviser of the Year for 2009-10.
“Tammy brings a wealth of educational experience to this national position,” said Jean M. Buckley, FBLA-PBL president and CEO. “We are fortunate to continue to benefit from her strong leadership and communication skills as she helps to innovate and drive the future growth of our organization.”
Ms. Skinner received the William T. Dwyer Award for Excellence in Education in 2005 and in 2009 was named Career and Technical Education High School Teacher of the Year for Palm Beach County.
