More than 380 students at Palm Beach Gardens Community High School have been trained in Hands-Only CPR in the last three weeks. On January 16th at 1:15 PM the Pre-Medical Magnet Program at Palm Beach Gardens Community High School and the American Heart Association – Palm Beach County Division are partnering to teach more students how to perform Hands-Only tm CPR .
According to the American Heart Association, recognition of cardiac arrest is not always straightforward, especially for laypersons. Any confusion on the part of a rescuer can result in a delay or failure to activate the emergency response system or to start CPR. Precious time is lost if bystanders are too confused to act.
On January 16, 2013, the American Heart Association is hosting Hands Only CPR demonstrations statewide to raise awareness for this easy to learn lifesaving technique. The goal is to encourage citizens and lawmakers to support CPR training using Psychomotor or hands-on practice prior to high school graduation.
