PALM BEACH GARDENS HIGH AND KENYA STUDENTS CONNECT FOR INNOVATIVE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY

Palm Beach Gardens Community High School is excited to be part of a unique Global Student Summit and Reading Exchange program.  Two of the school’s outstanding English teachers, Meredith Caro and Susan Roberts, have their classes working with The Mwituha Secondary School in Bunyore, Kenya to establish an innovative learning opportunity for students on the two continents.

Collaboratively they are developing a program in which students at both schools read four books during the school year, Copper Sun by Sharon Draper, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Running For My Life by Lopez Lomong and Orange Houses by Paul Griffin.

The students will then participate in Skying sessions/video chat with each other to share what has been learned. Additional partners include Cranium CoRE (reading comprehension), Mackin (books, digital and print), ProQuest (research) and author Sharon Draper.
