The ASR (Alternative Scholarship Reservations) NROTC Scholarship was recently awarded to two members of the Navy JROTC program at Palm Beach Gardens High School. These two cadets will receive $180,000 to a 4-year University of their choice.
Cadet Captain Apearre Ao was awarded this scholarship along with the $1,000 Norm Daly Scholarship, $100 from the Navy League, and $100 from the Military Officers Association. Apearre plans to attend the University of South Florida.
Cadet Petty Officer 2nd Class, Xavier Kelly was also awarded the ASR NROTC Scholarship and is also a recipient of the $1,000 Norm Daly Scholarship and a $100 from the Navy League. He plans to attend Arizona State University after graduating from high school.
Both cadets received their awards in the presence of a packed house of family, friends and the 277 strong Corps of cadets during the Awards and Change of Command Ceremony held at Palm Beach Gardens High School on April 24, 2014.
